Everyone dreams at a closet full of garments perfectly arranged by size, color, shape, type or whatever, but stored in the right manner.
If you don’t really know what a closet represents, it’s a wardrobe for your clothing items and accessories. Long time ago, the clothing items were stored in a box, more like woden coffers. Nowadays, there are lots of storage ideas. Athough, the closet isn’t a must have in European countries, in America is mandatory by custom.
Here is a list of every step you should take when organising the ideal closet! These tips and tricks will help you get the wardrobe you dream of.
#1. The inventory
Take everything out and throw what you have’t used for more than a year already. If you didn’t choose it then, you won’t choose it now.
Store your most-used items at eye level, less-used items below, and least-used items up high.
#3. Use every angle
The best way to maximize space in your closet is to use every angle of it, including the corner, depth and height spaces. You’ll have access to all these spaces by incorporating pull-down rods or pullout shelves.
#4. The pullout hooks are your best friend
Use hooks to organize clothing and handbags. The handbags must be stored in the proper way, because otherwise they will ruin their shape. These hooks don’t use too much room.
#5. Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the prettiest of them all?!
Add mirrors because, that way, you’ll create the illusion of a larger space.
#6. The details make the design.
Sometimes, the details are everything. You’re free to add personal touches, in order to want to spend time in. This is the ideal opportunity to include your favorite designer books, photos or even paintings. The idea is to add some color.
#7. Combine your storage options
This means that at the bottom of your shelf, you’re free to storage your things in small boxes.
#8. Choose the appropriate lighting
Lots of you didn’t even consider to add serious lighting because you think a lamp or pendant light are more than enough. WRONG! You can choose LED lights in hanging rods.
Use vertical space to store more.
#10. Separate the jewelry
If you don’t have access to your items, how could you see and choose them? Place loose items in decorative pottery and purchase drawer inserts to help you organize and separate all of your pieces. That way, everything has its place and it’s much easier to stay in place.
If you have a large house, you are one of the lucky ones because for sure you have the space to design it. But if you have a small apartment to live in, it’s not that hard to figure out that decorating a closet just for clothing is out of the question. So, the only thing you can do is to deal with the furniture you already have. Make room for everything and organize the items by color, length and style to ease your “pain” in the morning.
Here’s an idea! What’s with the limber box? Here you keep storage bags, empty jars, magazines and stuff you don’t really use anyway. What if you could dissolve it and make yourself a nice closet instead?! You could hire someone to design the specific shelves according to the dimensions. Good luck!
