Cara Jocelyn Delevingne was born in London, England, to Pandora Anne (Stevens) and Charles Hamar Delevingne, a property developer. Her parents are both from upper-class families. The soon-to-be one of the most famous fashion models of our century, she has 2 older sisters, Chloe and Poppy Delevigne. Her godfather, Nicholas Coleridge, is executive for Conde Nast and her godmother is actress Joan Collins.

She attended Frances Holland School for Girls near Sloane Square. Later, she went to the boarding school, Bedales.

Delevigne is a fashion model, an actress, a designer and apparently a singer as well.

2011

Delevingne’s first catwalk appearance was at London Fashion Week in February, stepping out in the Burberry Prorsum autumn/winter collection. She also was the face of Burberry’s spring/summer 2011 campaign.

2012

She was scouted by Burberry’s, Christopher Bailey, while working part-time in the office of a fashion website.

“I love Christopher Bailey and Burberry, Mulberry for bags, and Hudson for jeans.”

She also was the face of Burberry’s spring/summer 2012 campaign. She won Model Of The Year, at the British Fashion Awards. During the same year, she started her acting career with a minor role in the film adaptation of “Anna Karenina”.

For the walk in the Dolce&Gabbana autumn/winter 2012 Show, she wore a lace and embroidered dress.

The final fashion week of the season was the Paris Fashion Week where Delevigne walked in 7 shows for Sonia Rykiel, Nina Ricci, Stella McCartney, Cacharel, Kenzo, Paul & Joe and, of course, Chanel. The Chanel autumn/winter 2012 Show had celebrities like Alicia Keys, Poppy Delevigne (her sister), Kanye West and Katy Perry in the front row.

2012 was the year of what would turn out to be a long lasting professional relationship between Cara and the Head Designer and Creative Director of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld. In an interview with Elle after the show he said: “Cara is different. She’s full of life, full of pep. I like girls to be wild but at the same time beautifully brought up and very funny.”

Over the fashion weeks, she had walked in over 50 shows, and made a name of herself quite hard to forget. Delevingne went on to appear in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on 7 November 2012. She featured in the “Pink is US” section and walked during Justin Bieber’s performance of the song “Beauty And A Beat”.

2013

Her first appearance at New York Fashion Week was for Jason Wu, where she walked down the runway in a short white dress with black gladiator strap heels. She followed this up by walking for Rag & Bone, Tommy Hilfiger, Diane von Furstenberg, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, Derek Lam, DKNY, Carolina Herrera, Jeremy Scott, Oscar de la Renta, Tory Burch, Anna Sui, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Issa, Mulberry, Topshop, Peter Pilotto, Matthew Williamson, Giles, Versace, Burberry, Fendi, Ports 1961, DSquared2, Versace, Iceberg, Etro, Pucci, Hogan, H&M, Lanvin, Vanessa Bruno, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Stella McCartney, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Hakaan, Louis Vuitton and many more.

Delevingne was featured in the Chanel’s Cruise show, for the first time that the fashion house had held an event in Asia, Singapore.

2014

Delevigne was ranked #10 on Maxim’s “Hot 100” of 2014 list. She won the Model of the Year award at the Bristish Fashion Awards.

In October, she starred in a sketch for an annual 90-minute comedy TV event called  “The Feeling Nuts Comedy Night“, which aired on Channel 4. The specific show was designed to raise awareness of a particular disease – testicular cancer. In November, she featured in the latest video of a South African group Die Antwoord called Ugly Boy.

In December, Delevingne starred in “Reincarnation, a short film by Karl Lagerfeld especially made for Chanel. She was actress along Geraldine Chaplin and Pharell Williams.

Delevingne has designed 2 fashion collections for DKNY and Mulberry. Her DKNY capsule collection featured a variety of sporty street style items ranging from beanie hats to leather jackets. DKNY described the collection as being unisex. The last one took approximately 2 years from the first announcement to the moment of being released on 15 October 2014.

2015

On 10 March, Delevingne closed the showcase of Chanel’s Paris-Salzberg collection and closed a show of the collection in New York on the 31 March.

In August 2015, she quit modeling to focus on her acting career. Her first major roles were as Margo Roth Spiegelman in the romantic mystery film “Paper Towns” (2015), Kath Talent in “London Fields”, and the “Enchantress” in the comic book film “Suicide Squad” V(2016).

“I wanted to be a Disney Channel star! I wanted to be Hannah Montana.”

In June 2015, in an interview with Vogue Magazine, Cara opened up wit her battle with depression when she was 15 years old.

“I was hit with a massive wave of depression and anxiety and self-hatred, where the feelings were so painful that I would slam my head against a tree to try to knock myself out.”

2017

In March, the model/actress announced that she has written a novel called “Mirror, Mirror”. It will be published in October 2017. Her upcoming movies scheduled for a 2017 release includes SF action film “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” and historical drama “Tulip Fever”.

“Modeling was an amuse-bouche, an hors d’oeuvre, never the main dish. Acting is and always was the thing. The thrill of acting is making a character real. Modeling is the opposite of real. It’s being fake in front of the camera.”

Delevigne was on the cover of Vogue UK, Vogue Korea, i-D, Love, Russh, Jalouse and Style.com (2013, Spring issue).
