Elie Saab grew up in Lebanon. From a young age, nine – to be more specific, he displayed a talent and love for fashion and design. As child, Saab created designs on newspaper using his sisters as models.
In 1981 he moved to Paris so that he could study design. Soon he dropped from college in Paris and returned to his home town, to start doing designs. At age 18, he opened his first atelier in Lebanon. Using beautiful fabrics, silk thread, pearls and detailed embroidery, Saab initially made bridal gowns.
From simply dressing the women in his neighborhood to dressing high society women, was just a step. His reputation spread after Halle Berry wore one of his designs to the Oscars.
