Recently, Lamborghini and Volkswagen presented their new supersport car, Lamborghini Huracan Performance, at Geneva Motor Show.
The famous Italian company has merged with German producer Audi AG, belonging to Volkswagen. Together they have launched this new car model which redefined the concept of super sports cars. Its name Huracán comes from the Spanish word for hurricane. However, the real inspiration it to be found in a famous Spanish fighting bull. In fact, it is a tradition for Lamborghini to use names of historical Spanish fighting bulls. So maybe the producers created it with a clear hope that Huracan will win the “fights” in the arenas of modern supercars.
The idea was to find a reliable substitute for another successful car, Lamborghini Gallardo. Therefore, the new car had to come up with improved features that would make it sell over 14000 units as its predecessor.
What makes Lamborghini Huracan Performance the fastest car of its series
Indeed, Lamborghini Huracan Performance set its first records immediately after it was released. This is due to its design and technical features. Thus, the producers have re-engineered it entirely. Every important aspect was designed to get the best performances: the weight, the engine power, the chassis. Moreover, they introduced ALA ( Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva), an innovative system of active aerodynamics. All these essential changes have led to the highest performance of Huracan. Hence, it completed a lap in 00:06:52:01 at Nürburgring. That means it set a new record for best lap and became the fastest standard production car at the Shrine of Speed. What could anyone want more from a debut?
The new car has the looks of a fighter both on the inside and on the outside. The interior fittings are made from the highest quality materials: the seats are made of carbon fiber, the interior parts of Forged Composites®, and the upholstery is made from Alcantara. All extremely light materials which contribute to and increase performance. There are three driving options: Strada, Sport, Corsa. The driver can select them directly from the steering wheel. Strada stands for Comfort, Sport stands for Fun Street Driving (90:10 Rear/Front AWD baseline) while Corsa means Super Stiff for Track, Fastest throttle response, shifting.
The car weights 1,382 kg and it gets from 0 to 100 km/h in exactly 2.9 seconds. Also, it needs 8.9 seconds to get to 200km/h. The maximum speed gets over 325 km/h and it needs 31 meters to stop from 100 km/h.
The innovation comes with ALA system mentioned above. It is a smart and innovative system that manages active aerodynamics. ALA adapts to the driving style and type of route. When necessary, it increases vertical load to assist stability and speed through curves, or it reduces aerodynamic resistance to assist acceleration and reaching the top speed.
Technical specifications for Lamborghini Huracan Performance
They redesigned the engine with fluid dynamics optimized at both intake and exhaust. Thus, we are talking about an aspirated V10 with the highest specific power. The new intake ducts come directly from Lamborghini Motorsport’s experience and improve response at all speeds. The double clutch transmission (LDF) has been further perfected and now is able to support even the highest performance. All this wrapped up in the even more vibrant and thrilling sound of the new lightened exhaust system.
