TREND ALERT! VELVET IS STILL A MUST HAVE IN 2017 - Fashion Worldwide

After a long summer of minimalist design in clothing and 90’s inspiration, the cold season wants to be quite challenging due to all those bold combinations of colors and unusual fabrics. During the previous season we agreed on wearing atypical fabrics like brocade, poplin, tweed and taffeta. This year, the velvet is in the spotlight. Of course, you can see it on the runway, in stores in the new collections of your favorite designers.

Velvet is a noble texture and it first appeared in ancient times as a symbol of aristocracy, opulence and luxury. In fashion, the velvet material was used in every way possible: clothing items, fancy accessories, jackets and Victorian dresses.

Among the brands that used this exquisite material in 2017 Fashion Shows of the most famous designers @Fashion Week are: Fendi, Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Prada, Alberta Feretti, Etro, Ralph Lauren, Dolce&Gabbana and Nina Ricci. You can see some of the best looks below.

Therefore, the velvet dress replaces successfully the star of the last season – the silk dress or the veil dress. Although it’s a particular fabric, the clothing items are pretty versatile and can be worn in daily outfits and of course, in the elegant looks. The difference is the design of the clothing piece and the the finesse in putting all together with accessories.

Usually, the event label determines the fabric of choosing. For an evening gown, you can choose a soft velvet, because you’d want to be refined, but for a cocktail party, you would choose a cotton kind of velvet for a chic deux-pieces. When it comes to colors, there are multiple alternatives: green, yellow, electric blue, navy and the obviously, black.
